The heart's wish; Hindi pronunciation: [mənməɾzɪjaːn]), released internationally as Husband Material, is an Indian Hindi-language romantic comedy-drama film directed by Anurag Kashyap and written by Kanika Dhillon. Starring Vicky Kaushal, Taapsee Pannu and Abhishek Bachchan. The film is jointly produced by Phantom Films and Aanand L. Rai's Colour Yellow Productions. Manmarziyaan began filming in February 2018. It is a love story set in Punjab, India. Principal photography wrapped up in April 2018. It will premiere at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival. A trailer was released on 9th August 2018.
Plot:
Rumi (Taapsee Pannu) is a free-spirited, yet a strong female who lives in Amritsar. Both of her parents were hockey players and she has fond memories of her father teaching her how to play hockey. After her parents passed away, she stays with her grandfather, aunt, and her cousins. She is in love with Vicky (Vicky Kaushal) and is in a sexual relationship with him. Vicky is a typical young Punjabi guy aspiring to be a musician whilst working as a DJ. One day they are caught red-handed in Rumi's bedroom. Rumi is pressurized to either get Vicky to marry her or marry someone else to safeguard the family's prestige. Rumi is stubborn and announces that Vicky will come with his parents and ask for her hand in marriage. She informs Vicky of the same, who is startled.
